Hygiene inspections

A hygiene inspection focuses on the level of cleanliness and assesses the cross-contamination risk within the food handling and storage areas.

Trained auditors make use of our Inspection Kits to see beyond the obvious. We make use of magnetic torches and telescopic mirrors to see beneath, behind, inside at the very back and also ontop. These hard to reach places are difficult to clean and can often become the breeding ground for pests and micro-organisms. Food contact equipment and handswabs are regularly taken to gauge cleaning efficacy. Other swabs such as drain swabs are often taken to determine the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.


The hygiene audit provides an overall score of the hygiene of the facililty, staff hygiene compliance and the required supporting documentation and evidence of daily monitoring records.
