Norovirus Seminar

Entecom hosted Larry Jackson from Handwashingforlife who presented two Noro-virus symposiums, one in Port Elizabeth and the second in East London.  Both seminars were very well attended, Port Elizabeth had just under 80 delegates representing the medical, food safety, food retail and food manufacturing industries.

Norovirus is by far the number one source of foodborne outbreaks across the country.  New weapons to prevent Norovirus outbreaks are available but what about H1N1 and other viral and bacterial pathogens?

Larry Jackson presented a highly interactive and informative symposium. Larry is Global Director of Handwashingforlife. He has over 30 years experience in related industries, including 5 years as Managing Director of SC Johnson, South Africa. He brings an "applied management" approach to the issues faced by food managers and health care professionals.

The symposium was divided into two parts:

A) Noro-virus getting started

1.  Assessing the risk for an outbreak

2. Setting the standards for hygiene

3.  Optimizing the conditions for success

4.  Changing employee behaviour

5.  Keeping score

B) Getting started workshop

1. Identify the steps to success for your operation

2. Develop practical, affordable double action plan

Delegates who attended gained an understanding on how to lower the risk for cross contaminiation through new surface and hand cleaning practices.

Thank you to all those who attended and made this event such a huge success.  Watch our news letters for dates and information on our next exciting symposuim / seminar to be held in November.
